My dad with his soon to be father-in-law
The first Yancey (My dad) to come to Oregon originated from New York state; he grew up on a dairy farm. He grew up working on the farm, at the sugar bush (maple syrup farm), and making cedar fence posts. He eventually decide to come to Oregon "to cut bigger logs". He later married a Wherley (my Mom), the daughter of a carpenter Al Wherley. The story was he traded her hand in marriage for a new Stihl chainsaw!
This new branch of Yancey eventually added 5 more to its numbers, with myself being #5. All of my siblings have been crafty and creative people making many awesome creations.

Most of my siblings are married now, all to amazing spouses earning the Yancey name and adding to it. There is even now another generation of Yanceys carrying on the legacy.
In September 2017 I started my own Yancey family, marrying a Wiseman daughter.
